Biography
Dr. Yoke-Leng Sim is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Science, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. After obtaining her Bachelor Degree in year 2003, she continued to pursue with her postgraduate study in the field of Kinetics and Mechanistic Studies of Organic System. She was graduated with Philosophy of Doctorate in Physical Organic Chemistry, University of Malaya in May 2007. Thereafter, Dr. Sim spent 18 months in University of Malaya, following Professor Dr. Mohd. Niyaz Khan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azhar Ariffin for her postdoctoral fellowship, in which she developed in depth on surfactant chemistry and micellar catalysis. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yoke-Leng Sim is an expert in Physical Organic Chemistry. She has experience conducting research involving intermolecular and intramolecular catalysis in homogeneous systems.
Research Interest
Her on-going research direction falls within molecular level understanding on the catalysis of nucleobases in RNA nucleotides, protein chemistry, adsorption mechanistic studies of biomaterials as well as renewable energy related projects. She has more than 10 years experience in handling catalysis systems
