Biography
David J. Merkler completed his PhD at the age of 28 from Pennsylvania State University and did postdoctoral studies at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His first job involved in the in vitro production of peptide hormones at Unigene Laboratories, Inc. He moved from industry to academia with faculty positions at Duquesne University and the University of South Florida (USF). He has been on the faculty at USF for 18 years and is currently a Professor of Chemistry at USF. He has published more than 70 papers in reputable journals and been consistently funded during his time at USF.
